Usually, people sleep on the left or right side, the back, or curled up in fetal position. Unfortunately, sleeping on the back can be bad for people who suffer from asthma or sleep apnea as it increases the risk of breathing problems. On the other hand, sleeping on the right side can lead to digestive problems or worsen already existing ones. These problems can lead to reduction in the quality of sleep.


This position remains the safest sleeping position because it offers numerous health benefits, especially for the digestion. It allows the body to absorb the nutrients and release toxins faster and better. Also, it betters the circulation, heart health as the body is able to pump better, and the blood flow to the heart as well.

Moreover, when you sleep on the left side, you allow the bile and waste to travel freely through the body and better the function of the spleen. By improving the lymphatic drainage, this position helps you feel less stress and negative effects on your health.


If you have another sleeping position, try to adapt to sleeping on your left side, even though at the beginning this may be a bit difficult. To adapt quicker, switch on a light on your right side to train the body to sleep on the left side. The body will naturally want to face away from the light source.
